Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Frankly you exceeded my expectation. I signed up with you about a year ago and haven't had a need to call until this summer when my AC went out. The first contractor assigned to me was rude and unprofessional, I called back in, needless to say it prolonged the service 3 additional days. Issue with AC was eventually resolved and I did not have to pay the service call fee. I thought about cancelling after my initial interaction with the rude contractor however my subsequent experience and the manner in which my issue was resolved prompted me to stick with Choice Home. Thanks for your attention.

First of all, I didn’t get a technician to come out for an air conditioning issue until 4 days later.. in Vegas. Then , they did not show up on that day at all and I had to wait an additional day so that makes it 5 days. This is Las Vegas . There is no way you can make someone in The heat of summer wait for 5 days when you have an AC PROBLEM. It’s not acceptable . If you don’t have enough vendors and reliable ones at that, then you need to seriously fix that first and foremost . It was 112 all week . Do you understand the seriouslyness of this . I have children and I have pets . Then this back and for with the Online claim and auto phone calls. One hand is not talking to the other. I got... Read More

D&S Appliances was sent to fix the washer; but couldn't find the problem. Second company Pyratek Appliance was sent and the technician was able to locate the issue which was the computer. This technician was much more knowledgeable and pleasant than the first technician that was sent to us. I was on hold with CHW twice for over an hour. I don't think that's very good customer service.

I have no problems with Choice Home Warranty. However, the company that you used to fix my AC was terrible. I got my assigned time (between 3-8pm) for repair and called the company and asked if I could be their last appointment for the day since it was the end of the month and I had work to get closed out at work. I got a call on my appointment day at 12:30 telling me they would be at the house in one hour. I asked the tech to please make it later. I suggested 4:30. He said he would check and call me back. No call back by 2:00 so I called the tech. He said 4:30 was fine. I called him at 4:30 as I was at my home waiting for him to make sure he had good directions. He told me that... Read More

My air conditioner system stopped working in the heat of Summer in Florida. They were quick to get someone out here. The tech reported that everything was well maintained on our approximately 16 year old system. It needed a new capacitor and defrost control board. The tech reported that it could be because of the age of the system or a power surge. CHW decided to decline the repair because it could've been from a surge. The repair company actually called them to plead my case because the system is so old. They still refused to cover it. Then I spent 1 hour and 10 min on hold before I gave up. Don't waste your money!

I haven't been able to get in contact with a human in the month since my claim has been made. Spent at least hour on hold (twice) before eventually giving up. Takes over a week for them to approve a repair. They requested a second opinion from another technician, so I had to pay the consultation fee twice. My ac has still not been fixed and it's been over a month in the summer. Don't waste your money and go with a different company.
