Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Been a customer for 4 years and both claims were the worst experience possible! It can all be summed up by reading their POLICY PARAGRAPH F.9; They use the language in this paragraph to put a stainless bath fixture component in a bathroom that all other fixtures were non-stainless. When In-Wall convection microwave completely went out, they authorized approx $800 of technician repairs but when one of the 6 parts was obsolete, stated this paragraph only requires them to pay for the value of the obsolete part and not total repair estimate or replacement. Either way, as the consumer, I still have a non-working microwave and no way to replace the $1800-$2200 unit for the mere $169 they... Read More

My visit with Scott was very nice. He went out of his way to help me. To the point of asking me what my age was so he could offer me a senior rate. In doing that he saved me money and made it so I won’t have to worry about the covered items for three years which gives me peace of mind. I would recommend that if someone is considering a home warranty to check this company out it will be worth your time.

I am highly satisfied with the professional plumbing services that were provided by Choice Home Warranty in record time for the appointment! Also, I saved more than $40 per monthly payment and as well as each claim by switching to a similar plan with Choice Home Warranty! I strongly recommend this company!

Worst warranty company I've ever dealt with! They are blatant liars and not trustworthy. I purchased a new home 2 years ago that had a Geo Thermal heating and air unit. After doing some research, I learned that there was great cost in repairs and replacement. At that time, I decided it would be a good idea to get a home warranty. I called a few warranty companies to see who covered Geo Thermal units. After speaking to a few, Choice Home warranties told me "absolutely! We cover service and replacement of the unit." Now I have been in the house for 3 years and have not had a problem with it until recently. So I called to start the claim with much confidence that this issue would be... Read More

Sadly we have had a terrible experience with choice home warranty. They don't make emergencies a priority and they rarely compensate on any claims. I have heard from their own contractors that they don't like working with Choice and I can now see why. We have been without A/C for 12 days and they keep giving us the run around and not wanting to help get the problem fixed quickly. They keep dragging their feet about getting the job done. I have a 5 month old daughter who is suffering in the heat and getting heat rashes and I had to buy a window a/c because choice can't quickly do what is needed to repair the unit. I also have had multiple other claims that weren't resolved and I had to pay... Read More

The tech did not understand the English language. He was told 5 times that the service fee was waiver and still did not understand that. A job that should have took 1 hour took 2.25 hours which impacted me. He could not understand that Choice was paying the service fee. I had to call in several times to get stuff done. Also he did not understand how bearing work in a blower motor. I showed him that it is worn and he kept stating but you cannot hear it. Also showed him that the blower motor was dirty from the oil from the motor. The blower motor will fail and this will cause us to be without AC in the hot Texas summer. I brought the warranty to prevent this kind of thing happening. I had... Read More
