I've waited 6 days for my hot water tank replacement and still have to wait for the warranty company to buy the tank then recontact the contractor to have it installed. I'm still waiting rather than they have a contractor fix it and reimburse them. A customer for 2.5 years only because they cover pools that I'm still here so sorry.!
AD Military customer for 3+ years since returning from overseas. Customer service has always been great; not difficult to contact and they are always pleasant and professional. Wait times on the other hand have been far from ideal. Some examples include: • 7 month wait for a simple HVAC repair (common part replacement) •• Wait time fault mostly on FAHWs assigned contractor (not sure how well they vetted the contractor given the awful reviews on many sites) however nothing tangible was accomplished through frequent communication with both parties during the process • cash-out request delayed nearly 3 weeks (typically 3 business days) • (current/unresolved issue) Hot Water Tank... One out of three service requests were actually performed. The first one was a garbage disposal incident and went off without a hitch. It was great. The second one was a dryer issue. The service personnel called me at the end of the appointment window to exclaim he was going to be an hour late. I've already pushed my plans back for the service but then the service being late officially ruined my night. However, he didn't even show up an hour later. But the extreme kicker is that the service personnel marked my service request as "needing to get new parts". I had to spend several hours on the phone with First American Home Warranty to explain to them that the service personnel never... Read More
This is a SCAM, SCAM, SCAM,, don't buy this,, their won't help you, my case it won't cover the labor because the equipment that brings is diferent size so now that has to modification, the duct and other, (normally work) is special, I find out their pay $600.00 for the furnace and I have to pay over $2200.00 in reparation, this is a BIG SCAM, SCAM
The worst warranty program ever. They send out the worse repair people and then they delay the work forever. Stay away from them
I am an Assistant Property Manager and we used to have all the properties we manage with First American Home Warranty because it used to be a great company with great response and customer service. Unfortunately, this is no the case any more. The contractors they are using are anything but good or responsible, the excuses to deny any claim are ridiculous, there is no one that really care, no even when you have 10 properties with them and Good Luck to try cancelling a policy, it is just ridiculous.
Home Warranties are a necessary evil, however, make yourself a favor and don't waste your time or money with this company.
On 8/7/22 my Air Conditioner failed. I filed a claim with First American Home Warranty. The temperature was over 107 degrees. The following day I had not heard back from FAHW so I contacted a local HVAC company who came out that same day and repaired my system for $309. 4 days later I finally heard from FAHW and was assigned a service company. When I checked the reviews for their recommended service company the reviews were universally horrible. Since I had the system repaired, I canceled the service request. I subsequently requested reimbursement I was told that because I went outside their network, my claim was denied. This policy is a complete waste of money.
A/C went out two months ago, and here in AZ, that is a serious issue. AHW sent a company out that says they can’t find much wrong, but get the cold air flowing. Two weeks ago, it goes out again and we wait 8 days in the extreme heat before the same company is sent. Suddenly there is hardly any Freon left in the unit - easy fix. Now after a week of cool air, we are back to square one. We call AHW and even after telling them that the same company hasn’t fixed this problem after two attempts, we’re told it is “policy” to send the same company out to try again. So how many days do we wait this time for a repair company that says a 12 degree difference between what the thermostat is set at and... Read More
If I could give this company a negative rating I would. Nearly 6 weeks ago we called to have our fridge fixed. We've had multiple service techs come out and ordered parts. It's taken multiple weeks and callbacks to get anybody to come and help us. We have a brand new newborn that will be coming home with us from the hospital today but we have no fridge to speak of. We've told first American home warranty about this on multiple occasions to which they have told us that we could purchase a $75 mini fridge. We are a family of four with two small children. With a diabetic who needs their insulin refrigerated. Well the platitudes of the service reps are nice. It doesn't actually get anything... Read More
My 2. 1/2 year old Frigidaire Gallery Refrigerator stopped cooling. An Electrolux (owner company of Frigidaire) repairman came out a few days later, after I had filed the claim and paid the service fee, He determined the parts required for the repair and made an appointment based on when the parts would arrive. Parts came in, but when repairman returned & installed parts, refrigerator still didn’t work. They then re-ordered SAME parts again. So I’ve been out of a vital appliance for 3 weeks, and since I don’t have a 2nd refrigerator, I’m being made to simply wait another few weeks even though I have children in my home. I spoke with FAHW customer service and although the... Read More
This was packaged with my new home, and if you have this.. run. Run far far away. 95% of the contractors I’m dealing with are scammers. The reps are on the phone, while nice have a useless script to follow. I’m in Colorado and this is a complete waste of money and time. Go off and find better contractors outside this company. I've also reviewed this "company" on Google and it took Home Warranty less than a week to respond to my 1 Star post.... Meanwhile 4 months later I'm still dealing with faulty repairs that a contractor did through Home Warranty. I've hired an outside contract who actually cares. This is a joke of a company!! The list goes on and on with horror stories here. My... Read More
Our furnace blower motor went bad. We contacted First American Home Warranty 6/2/2023. Our experience with them has been nothing but horrible. They will not call back, we get the same excuses each time we call them. Today is 8/2/2023 we we still don't have this resolved or an air conditioner during the summer. We have older family member staying with us so we had to go out and by portable air conditioners. Spoke to a representative again today and received the same blow off that we have gotten every call. Save your money in a piggy bank for future repairs - you cannot rely on this company to fulfill anything they promise. In case there are any board of directors reading this... Read More
Worse Company Ever. I'm a senior who lives in Central Florida. I called First American Home warranty on July 6th 2023 because my HVAC system was not cooling. Service Assigned to Circa Service FL LLC, who schedule repair for 6 days later on the 11th of July. Mind you the temperature has been ranging from high 90's to above 100 degrees here in Central Florida. I called the warranty company about the schedule date of repair I was told that told that the companies have up to a week to do the repair. No concern about the wellbeing of the customer. I suffered in the heat while I waited. On July 11th technician arrived stated that the Braker box is burnt out and the capacitor is not... Read More
On 06/04/2023 my AC in my home stopped working. I placed a claim with FAHW on that same day. They sent out Zips HVAC to my home to check my AC on 06/06/2023. The HVAC company said it was my Air handler that was the issue and they would inform my warranty company. I was not satisfied with that company because I didn't see him run any diagnostic test and also explained that to the warranty company. After fighting for a second opinion they then sent out Extra Care LLC on 06/16/2023 and that contractor and myself had a very heated exchange because he claimed he couldn't answer any questions I had regarding his findings. I didn't understand why not. The warranty company was also informed about... Read More
Terrible company - they use terrible service contractors, they don't verify the work the service contractors claim to perform, they avoid performing repairs, they don't keep any promises on timelines for repairs or updates, they promise to call back with updates and they NEVER do. I was forced to replace my fridge after two botched repairs and on the third repair request they dragged their feet for 17 days and I still had no estimate on a repair date or confidence that the correct repair would be performed. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! Such a rip-off!
Worse company ever. Our water heater broke down and we submitted a claim on Wednesday, after 2 days they sent a plumber to check the issue. We were told the gas control valve needs replacing, and they will call and notify First American for further steps. I called the following Monday to check the status of our claim the plumbing company said it will take 7 to 10 days for them to receive the part which could be found even at Home Depot. I called First American to ask how soon the part purchases will get approved and will be sent I was told it is in process and they cannot give any specific information about that. Just imagine how difficult it can be not to have hot water for a shower; no... Read More
HVAC Issue: I have been customer of First American home warranty since 2008 and have been paying them monthly since then. I never had any major issue with since then. However, for the first time, I needed their help when my HVAC broke down on 5/31 in summer heat of Texas and I was without AC with 2 little children and my elderly mom. I created a service request, and first contractor came out on after 2 days on Friday evening who found that evaporator has been broken down and I need to work out with supervisor on coming Monday who come to explain the repair process and my out-of-pocket charges. As it was emergency, I asked First American to change the contractor. Second contractor came out... Read More
I feel like I have been punk’d! I signed up with this company about 4 months ago and as luck would have my Jenn Air Oven stopped working. My first phone call was (Sunday) May 7th in which they took a $100 service fee and said someone would get back to me in 24 hours. 48 hours came and left and no phone call. The agent told me I was assigned to JC Appliance and to await their call. Someone finally called on Thursday, May 11th, and said he would be there between 2-4 pm on Friday the 12th. I gave him a call at 4:45 and he had totally forgotten that he put me on the schedule. He apologizes and puts me on the schedule for Saturday the 13th from 10 – 2 pm. Guess what, no call no show! I would give an overall rating between 2 and 3. I have been with First American since 2010. To be fair, there have been service calls that went well, but others not so much. When I had my heat pump go out (during over 100 degree weather), 1st Am said they were only going to cover the compressor and I would be paying over 1K for "non-covered" parts. Weeks (long hot days) later, after numerous attempts at parts, they decided to replace the heat pump all together. I still paid over $500 but that was much better than the alternative. When my garage door spring broke, I was told they would only replace the one spring, so I had to pay $300 for the other side--which was sure to go shortly after.... Read More
I cannot believe that this company has performed at such an inadequate level - actually inadequate would be overrating their performance. I purchased the policy with the idea that "sure, I could fix things, but it would be nice to have our second home covered for small repairs that would make life easier." NO WAY!!! We had a simple thing - garbage disposal started leaking, so we called First American. That was March 26 and it is now April 10th. I just got off the phone after being hung up on by the company. After several calls to First American and their plumber - absolutely nothing has been done. I did pay them an extra $85 for their claim. A plumber came in and said, "yes your garbage... Read More
If I could give FAHW a negative rating, I would. Absolutely, the worst company to deal with. Our double oven stopped working in 08/2022. We filed a claim. It took them about 10 days to send a repair man. The repair company said they have to order a part that is on back order. It took them 2 months to get the part. They came and replaced it and the oven still had the same problem. Then they said the electric relay board needs to ordered, but that is also on back order. Then they realized that they couldn't order the part because it is no longer produced. Instead of replacing our oven, FAHW send another repair company to come and look at the oven. The repairman saw that there is a... Read More

Not a fan. We've been without a working dishwasher for about a month now, because they keep sending the same company to "fix it", with zero effect. The last straw is that I called today to ask to resubmit the service request because the service request was closed even though the problem wasn't fixed, and the representative on the phone had THE MOST INSULTING AND CONDESCENDING tone of voice I've ever gotten on a customer service phone call. It literally sounded like he was rolling his eyes through the phone. I cannot deal with bad customer service in addition to bad appliance repair, and I immediately started shopping around for a new home warranty company.
I opened a claim on 2/15/2023 for my washer. Today its 3/30/2023 and i still dont have a working washer. They have very poor substandard conntractors that are ill trained. I have been on "waiting for parts" for weeks now. The technician has made three visists and still not fixed. ConsumerAdvocate must really take a hard look at the ratings for this company,
Our claim took weeks to process. It was for a Whirlpool double electric oven. We were told a new part was being purchased then there we were told there were no new parts as it was too old and it had to be repaired. It ended with us being paid a small sum equivalent to the repair cost and we had to spend $3,200 buying a new oven from Costco. Something we could have done in the beginning. The whole process lasted about three months. The claim was not handled efficiently. It did not make us want to renew.
