Trupanion is a Seattle-based pet insurance company that sells medical insurance for dogs and cats. Trupanion policies are underwritten by American Pet Insurance Company. Founded in Canada, the company expanded into the US and Puerto Rico in 2005. Trupanion offers policies that cover your pets if they get sick or injured, and also cover prescription pet foods, orthotic devices, and carts.

First off, I must say how pleased I was when I called Trupanion to request a claim form for my dog Colin's cataract surgery, as well as to ask some basic questions about their claims process. The individual was so helpful and reassuring that he made my day! The claim paperwork was handled much more quickly than I ever imagined. The day of the surgery, I paid for the procedure in full submitting the paid invoice to Trupanion the next business day by fax, as instructed. Within eight business days, I received a letter stating exactly how much the reimbursement would be to satisfy the claim and the following week I received a check for that amount. You were fast, kept me notified that you were working on the several claims I submitted. Received an email that you had questions, I called and the person handling the claims actually answered the phone directly. She said I would know in a couple days and that is what happened. They covered what was allowable, used some toward deductible and promptly got a check to me in less than a week. Very efficient and did what they said. Very pleased with the whole experience! Donna

We love Trupanion and always recommend it to others. We've had the unfortunate misfortunes with allergies & knee injuries and Trupanion has helped us through it. Every time we've called, every representative that we've spoke with has been extremely helpful and genuinely concerned for our pets. The claim experience has always been very simple and we can't thank them enough. We highly recommend Trupanion!

Trupanion should set an example to all medical insurances, human and pets alike. They deliver precisely what they promise and make submission of claims easy and painless. They process the claims with uncanny efficiency!

The entire claim process was handled with professionalism rarely seen in today's environment. From the first conversation I had with Trupanion, to the last telling me the claim was paid, the Representatives fully explained the process and guided me through to the end.
I found the Representatives knowledgeable. As an added benefit, dogs barked in the background during my conversations with them. Being sceronaded by barks in the background gave me a sense of shared love and concern for animals. In this case, my dog, Daisy. Clearly, Truepanion makes Customer Service and employee satisfaction a priority.
I'm so happy I decided on Truepanion.

This is the first time we have ever had pet insurance, our experience with Trupanion has been outstanding. I wish all of my insurance companies (personal, health, car, & home) over the years had acted so professionally. The claims we have submitted to Trupanion, are paid extremely quickly. I have tracked the claim reimbursement, it has usually been 5 to 7 business days to get reimbursed. With most insurance companies you are looking at 5 to 7 weeks, or longer. We are extremely happy with Trupanion, and have recommended them to other pet owners.

Due to our previous dog having a $4,000 surgery bill we chose to get insurance for our new puppy last year. It hadn't even been 24 hrs since we had signed up, when we ended up in the vet for an emergency call for poison our puppy ingested. The claim was filed and accepted before we had even left the vet's office. And our first claim was paid at the exact rate we had been told it would be, no surprises, hidden costs or exemptions. Our dog is now 17 months old and we have had to use our Trupanion policy twice for what we shall call "puppy incidents", we always know we will have expert and immediate service. We have recommended Trupanion to all our pet loving friends and family.
