Overall Rating: 4.9 / 5 (Excellent)

Select Home Warranty’s lack of a term maximum is very attractive, especially when considering their comparatively generous appliance and system limits. They do have a waiting period for service and require maintenance records, which can be off-putting to some customers. Select is an excellent choice for customers who value savings and flexibility.

Worst company i have ever delt with. Had them for two years, always found a way out of paying claim. My fault for not reading contract. With that said, contract wording is ridiculously on the side of the company. When they did decide to pay claim, it took four months to get my check.

Absolutely Horrible. Read the fine print on the contract before paying not after paying and then it is sent.

My experience with this company has been that it works more like a "bait and switch" type company than a reputable business you can depend on when you need it. You are made all sorts of promises for future repairs on your appliances and falsely put at ease. For three years, we paid for a yearly contract, but never had to use it. That was a good thing. Then, the first time we called on them to utilize our contract for the repair of our A/C unit, we were DENIED ON EVERY ITEM. No explanation. Nothing. Just a denial email. So, in addition to having paid for a yearly contract for three years, we had to call an A/C Company to do the repairs, which, according to our "WARRANTY SERVICE... Read More

I had my heater out and each time I tried to contact them, they took 24 hrs to respond, in the coldest nights of week, I was w/o heat and having small children in the house. after going back and fort with them, they finally said they will only cover $150.00 of the total cost of part and labor and the technician said he is charging me 25% on top of the regular price for board and 2 trip charges (one for picking up the part and another for coming back to my house) plus his labor. that is ridiculous. I am still waiting for them to fix the darn heater. read section 9.2.1 they will deny any claim for hvac that you don't have 3 years of maintenance records for this company is an absolute rip... I signed up with this company for 3 of my properties for a period of 3 1/2 years for around $4k total. The service i am getting for all the money i am paying is horrendous. I have a refrigerator that is not working for the last 7 days and they are not able to find me a valid technician. Every 2nd day they assigned me a technician. The first one i called said they are 2 hours from my place and they don't service my area. the 2nd technician they assigned told me that they do not fix appliances. Every time i call, the only answer i get is the dispatch is working on it. The tenant I have has a 3 year old daughter and having no refrigerator is causing them a lot of problems. As i said its been... Read More

After submitting a claim to on electrical problems in the garage and on the outside of the house, the company refused to cover them. We submitted another claim to fix our heater, but the company didn't cover the specific part that broke inside the heater. This is despite the company saying they covered these general electrical and heating systems. They refused to share the full contract with us prior to purchasing their warranty, and only provided it to us after denying our claim.

This is the worst home warranty to have. I get what I pay for. I have them for almost two years. I call them 4 times. The first was for my disposal, some one came 4 days later and confirm that it is broken for $45.00. So bottom line I wait 4 days for some to say the can not fix it. Then I remember My other home warranty I both house with was not expired, I called them a technician came out the next day and fix it for $30.00. The second time I call them was for my microwave, something happened some got paid to confirm the buttons was not working. I had to YouTube it and fix it myself. Third time I called they say they could not fix my oven thermal glass because it is decoration, "What!" I... Read More

I am a Platinum care customer of Select Home warranty from May 22nd 2016. They wont take your emergencies seriously. It happened with my toilet plumbing. They wanted me to wait with my leaking, non working toilets for a whole day just because they don't want to pay the plumbing company emergency charges. They will tell you can call any contractor you find and then will reimburse only a pittance. It seems like they cover all appliances and plumbing and electrical etc., PLEASE READ THE CONTRACT FORM COMPLETELY. SO MANY EXCLUSIONS. BEWARE of all the things they don't cover. If i want to break my contract i get next to nothing as left over charges. This is a company that plays with... Read More

I feel I was sold a bill of goods, I have tried several times to have them come out, and each time they referenced fine print to avoid sending a technician. This company, in my opinion is much less than honorable. If you hire them, make sure you get a lawyer to read the fine print. Going back to AHS.

Under no circumstances would I ever deal with this company again. When the payment was made, it was not credited to my account and it took weeks before we were able to even get my account active. They are disrespectful and talk over you to the point that you can never respond. They make you repeat yourself over and over again I think to tire yourself out. If you have two related symptoms of a system they will treat it as two issues and charge you $60 for each symptom regardless of whether both are related to a single system in the home.
